“I have long been a fan of Chef Jose Duarte, who may be best known for Taranta in the North End, so when I heard that he and partner Brian Corcoran were opening a place that would take tasty tips from his native Peru, I wanted to jump on the first plane. I only had to go as far as the airport’s general area, however, as Tambo22 is near the nexus of routes 16 and 1 in Chelsea, far from the covid crisis and far above anything else in the area! Named for the traditional Incan supply and lodging facility, Tambo22 has plenty of satisfying (and most often locally-sourced) staples like their well-named Better than Buffalo wings, creatively-concocted ceviches, tongue-grabbing grilled beef skewers, fresh fried yucca, and plenty of Andean lupini beans, many of which come with Duarte’s homemade rocoto hot sauce.”
