Introducing MATACUY: Elixir of the Andes

When we first opened the doors of Tambo 22, we envisioned creating a space that would transport our guests to a beautiful place in the Andes region of Peru. Our goal was simple; to create an overall experience that was unique, authentic, and different than anything the Boston area has to offer.

As we continue to grow and build relationships, we are thrilled to introduce another spirit that comes from the Andes region of Peru. Matacuy Elixir Andina is complex, showcases the terroir of Peru, and you’ll have a hard time finding it anywhere else! You’re going to NEED a taste.

Matacuy, distilled by our friends at Destileria Andina, is distilled from sugar cane and made from roughly 50 different botanicals that are found in the “Sacred Valley of the Incas.” Located between Cuzco and Macchu Picchu, this unique micro-climate yields the fruits, spices, and herbs that make this elixir complex, balanced, and naturally sweet.

Chef Duarte enjoys his Matacuy on the rocks with a twist of orange peel, as the perfect digestive. Our bartenders have incorporated Matacuy into some amazing cocktails, which will be coming to our Spring Menu very soon! Stay tuned for more or drop by and taste the Andes.
